Ornament Time!

Every Christmas since Abby was 18 months old we have painted ornaments together as a family.  Abby looks forward to it every year.  As soon as we get the Christmas decorations out she begins asking when we will get to paint ornaments.  It's always so fun to look at the ornaments we painted from years past as we hang them on the tree.

Well this year, was quite interesting!  We wanted to make sure that we did it while Doug was home, so that meant an evening paint session, and with a 13 month old, a 2 year old and a 6 year old...well you understand what I mean by interesting.  Ella is starting to love anything "crafty" just like Abby.  Lily wanted to paint too so I gave her a paint brush and held out an ornament, but the brush went into her mouth and she was real happy when we took it away!  All joking aside, it is a special tradition that the girls and Doug nad I are coming to love more each year.  (Although, Doug did suggest that we could do a morning next year...which means I would be by myself with all of them paint flying and ornaments spinning.  Don't think so, dear.)

Here's a look at the girls painting and some of their creations.

This ornament is where it all started.  I was trying to get Abby's handprint on this ornament to give to Doug for Christmas, but she did not want to cooperate, so I just let her use her fingers and paint on the ornament.  We wrapped it up and gve it to Doug for Christmas that year.  He loved it and that is where the whole tradition came from.
